Icy Dock has once again redefined the playing field with the new MB982SP-1S 2.5" to 3.5" SATA SSD & HDD converter. The MB982SP-1S is based on the concept of the highly successful MB882SP-1S-1B converter, but with significantly improved features. This product has been designed with the same dimensions, connection positions, and mounting holes as a standard 3.5" HDD, allowing it to be used in any internal hard drive bay as well as in any backplane or hot swap device designed for 3.5" hard drives.

The new HDD/SSD converter is made entirely of metal, providing a better cooling environment. At the same time, this extremely solid construction is particularly suitable for industrial and military applications, as well as for operation in large enterprises. Due to the improvements over the original MB882 series converters, the MB982SP-1S can now also be used with high SATA drives such as the Western Digital VelociRaptor with 10,000 RPM. To accommodate 12.5 mm or 15 mm high drives, we have integrated our SmartFit technology, which keeps the drive securely in place—regardless of whether it is 9.5 mm slim or 15 mm tall.

The MB982SP-1S also boasts all the features you would expect from an Icy Dock product: effortless drive installation without any screws or tools, numerous ventilation openings to optimally cool any drive used, and efficient operation. You won't have to compromise on unique and stylish design either. Air can flow around the drive through openings in the top, front, and back, and a special ventilation opening on the bottom allows you to check whether the SSD or HDD is seated correctly.
