About ND Filters
Neutral density filters (ND filters) are among the most sought-after and important types of photographic filters for several reasons. For photographers, ND filters provide precise control over the amount of light that enters the lens, allowing for greater creative control over exposure. For content creators, ND filters are very helpful in adjusting shutter speeds to match frame rates while maintaining the depth of field of the footage.
PROND filters use Hoya's clear optical glass, which is mounted in a lightweight, precisely crafted aluminum frame. With Hoya's exclusive ACCU-ND technology, a uniform reduction of light in the visible and IR spectrum is achieved. The Hoya ND 100000 allows for exposures of over 1 hour in direct sunlight, making the filter particularly suitable for capturing special events like a solar eclipse. With more than 16.5 stops of light reduction, the filter enables exposure times of several minutes in bright sunlight. Hoya employs a precise metal vaporization process to create the ultra-dark ND effect while maintaining a very neutral color balance for true-to-life color reproduction during extremely long exposures.
