Nelson Saucer Crisscross Bubble Pendant Light by Hay
The Nelson Saucer pendant light by Hay features a surprisingly soft light, a pleasantly wide round shape, and a charming cross pattern that adds a unique touch to any interior. The Bubble lamp series was designed by George Nelson in 1947, inspired by Swedish pendant lights made of silk covers.
George Nelson Saucer Crisscross Bubble Design from the 1950s
The Nelson Saucer Bubble pendant light was designed by George Nelson in the 1950s and marked the beginning of a revolution in the lighting industry. The designer was inspired by a range of Swedish silk-covered pendant lights that Nelson wanted to use for his office.
"Saucer" Pendant Light for Your Home
However, the silk-covered lamps were too expensive for him, so he used his creativity to create his own lamp. To this end, he decided to use a plastic spray developed by the US military and spray it onto the shaped steel frame. The result is the Nelson Saucer Bubble light, which resembles insect cocoons and therefore attracts everyone's attention.
