The OFC copper conductors impress with high flexibility and low resistance. The major advantages of pure OFC cables (oxygen-free copper) are their outstanding electrical properties and low resistance. Speaker cables are often referred to as "pure" copper cables, even though they only have a very thin copper coating. This mainly applies to what is known as "CCA copper" (aluminum core with a thin layer of copper) or "CCS copper" (steel cable with a thin layer of copper). These cables have significantly poorer transmission properties than OFC cables.
