Many functions are only available with a subscription, which is why the Nest is only ranked fifth. In terms of picture quality, however, it belongs to the top group. During the day, it delivers appealing, if somewhat dark, material. In low light, it shows many details. Thanks to its battery, flexible mount and weatherproof housing, it feels at home both indoors and outdoors.

If you are thinking about video surveillance of your home, house or office, the two outdoor cameras from Nest seem like a good choice. We assume that the minor problems we experienced in the test were difficulties during commissioning, as we were eventually able to solve them. Afterwards, the system worked as expected...

Google's Nest smart home system includes IP cameras in addition to smoke detectors and video doorbells. Smartly made and well networked, but quite expensive. The main drawback of the Nest cameras is the high follow-up costs as soon as you want to use their full range of functions. We also miss an Ethernet connection to get around WLAN weaknesses. The Nest Protect is no bargain either, but its comfort and cloud functions are at least available free of charge.

In the test, the Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor were particularly convincing due to the very good overall package of hardware and software. Not only the technical side and the very good workmanship of the cameras are convincing and make it clear that the buyer is not dealing with a cheap webcam, but also the setup, use and the app are convincing...
