Geistlich Wood glue

Aqua cold-water-resistant D3 is a solvent-free emulsion adhesive based on polyvinyl acetate, developed for applications subject to increased moisture exposure. The bond meets the requirements of service class D3 and is suitable for indoor and sheltered outdoor applications involving brief exposure to water. Typical areas of use include hardwoods and softwoods, wood-based materials, cardboard, paper, windows, doors and general joinery work. The surfaces to be bonded must be flat, clean and free from grease and dust. The adhesive is applied to one side; for rough cut edges or hardwoods, it is applied to both sides. The optimum wood moisture content is between 6 and 12 per cent. The open time is up to eight minutes. Within this time, the workpieces must be joined and pressed with a pressure of at least 3 kg per cm². The pressing time at 20 degrees Celsius is 20 to 30 minutes. Further processing is possible after approximately two hours; full final strength is achieved after around three days. The recommended application rate is between 100 and 200 g per m². The processing temperature should be between 10 and 30 degrees Celsius. The adhesive has a temperature resistance of up to 60 degrees Celsius in accordance with EN 14292. Fresh adhesive residues can be removed with water; cured material can only be removed mechanically. Woods rich in tannins may be prone to discolouration when in contact with iron. All technical data are based on tests carried out under standard conditions of 23 degrees Celsius, 50 per cent relative humidity and 10 to 12 per cent wood moisture content.
