Product details
The Garmin Drive 50-GPS-Navi provides alarms for drivers to increase driving safety. Receive warnings for sharp bends, speed changes, level crossings and game changes, among other things.
If you are driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street or near school areas, Garmin Drive 50 will also inform you. You will also be warned of nearby traffic lights and speed cameras³ and prepared for sudden stops with traffic jam warnings. For longer journeys, the Fatigue Warner suggests breaks and possible rest areas after hours of driving. The function for POIs along the route shows you POIs and important points such as restaurants or shops. You don't even have to leave the map page.
FREE, UNLIMITED TRAFFIC SUBSCRIPTION TO AVOID TRAFFIC JAMS
The free Garmin (premium) traffic broadcast via RDS-TMC provides details on the situation, for example how many minutes of delay can be expected and whether there are possible time-saving bypasses. You can also confirm that you are on the fastest route. With an unlimited traffic subscription, the Garmin Drive 50 can receive traffic information free of charge for the entire life of the device - without advertising or subscription costs. Garmin traffic information is sent directly to the Garmin Drive 50.
NAVIGATION INSTRUCTIONS BASED ON CLEARLY IDENTIFIABLE POINTS
With Garmin Real Directions, Garmin Drive 50 redefines turn-by-turn directions with street name announcements. You receive easy-to-understand driving instructions and are guided to your destination like a real passenger. Easily recognisable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights serve as reference points (e.g. "Turn right after the red building" or "Turn left after McDonalds"). Thanks to Foursquare, millions more new and popular Points of Interest are pre-installed on the device.
FIND EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
The Direct Access function simplifies navigation to certain large-scale destinations such as airports and shopping centres, as a destination is also found in a larger complex. When you drive to a shopping center, Direct Access provides additional information about specific stores.
EASIER SEARCH, FASTER FIND
Find addresses and millions of Points of Interest (POIs) easily using the Garmin Drive 50 search box. Just enter a category (e.g. "Pizza"), a full address or a name ("McDonalds") and the Garmin Drive 50 will immediately list the results. You made a typing error? The Garmin Drive 50 masters this with ease and displays several search results that resemble your input.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES: ONE CAMERA
You can get more information while driving by connecting the Garmin Drive 50 to the BC 30 wireless rear view camera (sold separately; specialist installation recommended). After the unit is connected, you can see vehicles, pedestrians and other obstacles directly on the Garmin Drive 50 display when you reset. The Garmin babyCam is available as an accessory for trips with a baby or toddler. The babyCam is a baby monitoring camera in the vehicle with which you can see a live image of the passengers in the back seat directly on the display of the navigation system.
NOTE: In some countries, the use of camera equipment is regulated or prohibited by law. You must familiarize yourself with the applicable laws and privacy rights that apply in the jurisdictions in which you intend to use a camera device with respect to the use of such devices, and you must comply with those laws and rights.
