Freiburg market calendar 2023

The Münster market in Freiburg is one of the most beautiful of its kind in Europe. 130 stalls fit together like a puzzle around the impressive Münster in the heart of the historic old town. Under colorful umbrellas, traders and farmers offer their goods - the selection is vast and ranges from artichokes, honey, trout, blueberries, potatoes, olive wood boards, tulips to sparkling wine or goat cheese. The Freiburg market calendar 2023 brings the beautiful market atmosphere to your home with atmospheric photos and illustrations. Each month features a recipe from Hans-Albert Stechl using ingredients from the market: pea soup with asparagus, lentil curry, braised tomatoes, or lemon-almond cake. For each dish, oenologist Martin Schärli has selected the perfect wine pairing. Additionally, two market vendors share their daily experiences at the market. Recipes: Hans-Albert Stechl, studied law, has been a self-employed lawyer in Freiburg since 1982. He is the author of the cooking column "Stechls Standgericht" in the Badische Zeitung. Design and photography: Wolfgang Wick, trained as a book and offset printer, studied graphic design in Pforzheim, Los Angeles, and Basel. In 1991, he founded the advertising agency Büro Magenta in Freiburg. Illustrations: Matthias Wieber, studied design, bicycle courier, sport climber, has been a self-employed graphic designer and illustrator since 2006, developing typefaces as a typographer and founded his own font label "mazefonts" in 2017. Photography: Michael Spiegelhalter, born and raised in a family with a photographic tradition, trained as a photographic assistant and lithographer, worked for several years in an advertising agency. He has been a freelance photographer since July 2000.
