The Flax membrane is the best example of Focal's expertise. The membrane is lightweight, rigid, and optimally damped—essential elements for the "ideal" speaker driver. Manufactured in Focal's production facilities, high-quality French flax is embedded between two thin layers of fiberglass for this membrane. The lightweight sandwich design is characterized by a natural sound without coloration, as well as rich reproduction in the midrange and precise bass beats. Flax Evo delivers further innovations such as the new TAM tweeter: derived from the state-of-the-art tweeter of the Utopia M series, the inverted dome with M-profile provides a wider dispersion angle. The patented Tuned-Mass-Damper (TMD) surround is used in all speaker components and helps to reduce unwanted resonances, enabling a clean, neutral midrange reproduction with very low distortion.
