The optical isolator and amplifier EX-47800IS can be used to optically separate RS-485 devices. The EX-47800IS can also function as an amplifier to add additional devices to an existing RS-485 system, which is limited to 32 devices by the RS-485 standard.

The EX-47800IS features pluggable terminal blocks on both sides. It provides transmit data (TXD+/TXD-), receive data (RXD+/RXD-), protective ground (Prot. G), and signal ground (SG). All data lines, power, and ground are isolated from one side to the other.

It supports a wide voltage input range of +7V to +48V DC. The EX-47800IS has 2 DIP switches for setting the mode (half-duplex or full-duplex) and the terminator settings. It supports both 2-wire and 4-wire modes. The EX-47800IS is compatible with both new and older RS-485 devices.
