The new Digitone II from Elektron produces polyphonic dimensions and inspiring sound possibilities. The strongly modular FM core of the Digitone II can produce 16-voice polyphony, and the new Synth Machines add a wealth of new sound possibilities alongside the original Digitone FM synthesis engine.
The synthesizer features four different machines, each uniquely designed and deeply tweakable. In addition to FM synthesis, the Digitone II includes the Wavetone machine, which is a new take on the classic two-oscillator analog synthesizer, the drone-infused Swarmer, and a new FM Drum machine that excels in creating percussive sounds as its name suggests. The device's 16 tracks can be any of these machines or alternatively MIDI tracks for controlling external devices.
At the core of the Elektron Digitone II is modularity, evident in its extensive modulation options. Its highly adaptable workflow provides the freedom to shape sound according to your artistic vision. The filter section offers a variety of choices: Comb and Comb+ filters, Multimode filter, EQ, Lowpass 4, and Legacy LP/HP filters provide the tools for both traditional filtering and more experimental sounds. Each voice has a dedicated amp envelope, and the device’s three LFOs with numerous endpoints and controls allow for unpredictable and inspiring soundscapes.
On the effects side, the device features rich delay and reverb effects, bit and sample rate reduction effects, as well as distortion that can be set to either pre- or post-filter mode. Completing the package is a master limiter and master overdrive. True to form, at the heart of controlling the Digitone II is the Elektron sequencer: with 128 steps and a multitude of Parameter Lock capabilities, the possibilities are nearly limitless, and the alternative Euclidean sequencer along with two pulse generators take your sequences to primal mathematical realms.
