Electro-Voice RE20
Product details
Traditional speaking microphone with many qualities
The Electro Voice RE 20 is a dynamic large diaphragm microphone with a cardioid pattern, specifically designed for capturing speech in the broadcasting field. Its housing design compensates for much of the proximity effect, allowing the speaker more freedom of movement in front of the microphone. Additional features such as the special capsule suspension, a built-in pop filter that does not muffle the speech, and a hum compensation coil that eliminates interference make the RE 20 one of the least susceptible microphones to noise—an essential tool in live situations common in broadcasting. Moreover, it has been designed to produce a particularly smooth, "finished" sound that can be broadcast directly, regardless of the speaker's voice color. Today, streamers and YouTubers, who often work solo and can benefit from any labor-saving features, particularly enjoy these advantages.
Big in the studio
Like many microphones originally developed for journalists, the Electro Voice RE 20 has also found its way into the recording studio: there, it shines as a versatile tool, providing a powerful, large sound especially for bass drums and brass instruments. It is also frequently used to mic toms or, in special cases, the lower drum of a Leslie cabinet. Last but not least, it serves its purpose in the studio as a vocal microphone, giving deep voices in baritone or tenor additional strength.
