EKWB EK-FC R9-290X VaporX backplate

This is a backplate for Sapphire graphics cards of the Radeon R9 290X series featuring the custom cooler design from the Vapor-X line. The backplate can only be used in conjunction with a compatible cooler from EK Water Blocks and is screwed onto the back of the pixel accelerator. Since this side is typically oriented upwards and thus well visible in the case, a visual upgrade here can be very beneficial.

In addition to the aesthetic enhancement, the black backplate made of anodized aluminum also provides greater stability. This effectively prevents the PCB from bending due to uneven tightening of the screws when securing the main cooler, thereby avoiding exposure to permanent stress. Furthermore, the aluminum contributes to improved passive cooling of the graphics card's backside.

The backplate is not compatible with the original graphics card cooler, is not water-cooled, is not primarily intended as a heatsink, and cannot be used individually. However, it can be used without restriction in conjunction with EK Water Blocks' EK-FC R9-290X Vapor-X type coolers. The required screws are included in the package. These screws are longer than the original screws, as they need to go through the backplate and the PCB to secure the main cooler.
