The Mini DisplayPort and USB Audio (Stereo) to HDMI adapter combines what belongs together – sound and image in one connection. This makes it possible to connect devices with an HDMI input, such as flat-screen TVs or projectors, directly to current Macs (Mac mini, MacBook, MacBook Pro) using just one cable for video and audio playback. The video output from the Mac is via Mini DisplayPort (up to 1080p) and the audio output is via USB2.0 in stereo. The adapter combines both sources into a single HDMI 1.3b output.
