DPA Boundary Layer Mount

The BLM6000 is a soft, robust rubber plate that features a suitable cutout for mounting a DPA SC4060, SC4061, SC4062, or SC4063, transforming the microphones into a Boundary Layer Microphone. The BLM6000 is a unique accessory that enhances the versatility of your DPA miniature microphone. It is made from a soft yet durable rubber plate with a diameter of 75 mm. A specific cutout is designed for the installation of a DPA microphone of type SC4060, SC4061, SC4062, or SC4063. By positioning a microphone on a reflective boundary surface, you benefit from the unique characteristics of the sound field encountered here—an increase in direct sound by 6 dB and diffuse sound by only 3 dB. This means that the signal recorded in this so-called "pressure zone" has higher sensitivity, clarity, and speech intelligibility compared to that of a microphone positioned in free field—essentially creating an acoustic "zoom" effect. The BLM6000 can be installed on all surfaces that reflect sound, such as floors, walls, or ceilings. Even when a DPA miniature microphone is installed together with this small boundary unit on the inner lid of an open concert grand piano, it produces a very distinctive, fresh sound.
