Product details

The TF Mini LiDAR from DFRobot is a ToF (Time of Flight) LiDAR sensor that can measure the distance to an object from 30 cm to 12 m. As with all LiDAR sensors, the effective detection range depends on lighting conditions and the reflectivity of the target object. What makes this sensor special is its size. With dimensions of only 42 x 15 x 16 mm, the TFMini allows for the integration of LiDAR in applications traditionally reserved for smaller sensors, such as the SHARP GP series infrared rangefinders. The TFMini can be easily powered with 5 V and is used via a 3.3 V UART at 115200 baud.

This sensor does not use a laser for distance measurement. Instead, it employs a special LED with optics. However, the sensor differs from traditional IR rangefinders as it uses ToF instead of triangulation for distance determination.
