Product details
This is an air quality particulate matter sensor from DFRobot. The sensor can measure and categorize various particulate matter particles of different sizes, and then provide the concentration value via the I2C interface. Particles of size PM10 (2.5-10 µm), PM2.5 (1.0-2.5 µm), and PM1 (0.3-1.0 µm) are weighted differently, as larger particles are partially retained by the mucous membranes in the nasal and throat areas. The sensor operates on the principle of laser scattering, meaning that the laser illuminates the airborne particles to create scattering and simultaneously collects the scattered light at a specific angle to obtain the curve of the intensity of the scattered light over time. The microprocessor then determines the equivalent particle size of the particles and the number of particles of different sizes per unit volume based on the MIE theory algorithm. The module is excellent for air monitoring in kitchens, heated rooms, bathrooms, or for measuring particulate matter pollution outdoors.
