Poetry Calendar 2026
The 42nd edition of the C.H. Beck Poetry Calendar, whose former title "Little Brother" is still well-known, looks similar to previous editions and is created according to the same concept: it contains 24 poems from German literature, ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. Each poem is paired with its own harmonious graphic. With 14 days dedicated to each poem, there is ample time for repeated contemplation, reading, and immersion. A poem may belong to high literature or be a simple song, it can be classic or modern, rhymed or completely free, serious or playful. It may be accessible to every child or lead to deeper reflection – regardless: it must be a good poem. And it should evoke something: comfort, cheerfulness, critical awareness, laughter, or tears. Not every poem resonates with all readers, but each one with many. Thus, may the calendar accompany us throughout the year 2026.
