Das Canon EF-S 18-55 mm f/3,5-5,6 IS STM verpasst im Test die gute Note am Ende. Dies liegt weniger an einer sehr guten Auflösung, ebenso wenig an einem geringen Abfall der Randschärfe oder den guten Reflexionen. Jedoch führen eine nur durchschnittliche Bildstabilisierung und vor allem die Verzeichnungen zu Einschränkungen die abgewertet werden müssen...
Insgesamt leistet das Objektiv gute Arbeit und hat nur bei der Verzeichnung im Weitwinkel Probleme mit der Darstellung. Die Abbildungsleistung ist über den gesamten Bereich sehr gut, wobei auch am Rand die Ergebnisse durchaus zufriedenstellend sind. Auch preislich bleibt das Zoom sehr fair.
Das Canon Objektiv ist aufgrund der verwendeten Materialien eine kostengünstige Alternative und macht gute Arbeit, wobei Verzeichnungen deutlich auftreten können. Dennoch bietet sie einen leisen Betrieb beim Fokussieren und ist auch beim Filmen gut einsetzbar, da sie hier ebenfalls kaum zu hören ist. Bei der Lichtstärke muss sie einige Federn lassen.
