This allows owners of an EOS R, who already have another EOS camera, to fully integrate it into their existing lens lineup. Discover which lenses you can use with the EOS R adapters. The EOS R adapters are designed to meet professional standards, featuring a metal bayonet on both sides. They are also protected against dust and splashes, so you can continue photographing even in adverse weather conditions. You can expect your lenses to perform just as they would with an EOS DSLR – the same great performance with the same top quality. Canon engineers developed the EOS R system adapters to make the EOS R compatible with existing EF and EF-S series lenses, without compromising on performance and quality. The lens control ring can be assigned different settings through the camera menu, including aperture, shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, and exposure compensation. The lens control ring is intuitively located, allowing you to find it without taking the camera away from your eye. The light clicks provide tactile feedback when adjusting in third or half stops (this can be removed through a special Canon service for filmmakers if smoother operation is required). Building on over three decades of continuous EOS innovation, the EOS R system is based on a groundbreaking lens bayonet that offers greater creative and more intuitive possibilities for capturing every moment. The EOS R has sparked spontaneous enthusiasm among a wide range of professional photographers and filmmakers. Discover how they have put the camera to the test to create images and videos they never thought possible.

Bayonet lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.
