Compact, lightweight, professional super-telephoto lens. The EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM is designed to be compact, lightweight, yet rugged thanks to magnesium alloy and titanium. Fluorite and UD lenses are used in the lens to minimize aberrations and distortions. The high initial speed of 1:4 is ideal, and the Canon Extender EF 2.0x III can also be used with EOS Series 1 cameras with virtually no loss of focus. Fast, precise, quiet focusing. The ring-type USM (ultrasonic motor) provides incredibly fast and quiet automatic focusing. A fast CPU and optimized AF algorithms also contribute to the high AF speed. If desired, manual focusing can also be performed at any time without having to leave the AF mode.
