Canon

The Canon E-Series rear lens cap is a replacement accessory for photographers who need a spare or replacement cap for their original rear lens cap. This black plastic cap has a diameter of approximately 5.5 cm with a standardized bayonet mount that is compatible with Canon E-Series lenses. It features the Canon logo and the model designation 2723A001AA, which are clearly marked on the outer surface. The cap weighs about 15 grams and provides secure protection for the rear lens element when the lens is not mounted on a camera body. Constructed from durable ABS plastic, this lens cap retains its shape and protective function with regular use. The inner felt lining helps prevent scratches on the rear lens glass surface, while the secure locking mechanism ensures that the cap stays in place during transport. This universal accessory fits all Canon E bayonet lenses and follows the standard design used in Canon’s lens lineup. The simple press-and-twist installation requires no tools and offers immediate protection for valuable camera optics. Replacement rear lens caps are particularly useful for photographers who frequently change lenses in the field or need extra protection for their equipment. The matte black finish minimizes reflections and maintains a professional appearance that aligns with Canon’s product design standards. This accessory serves as a practical safeguard against dust, moisture, and physical damage to the delicate rear lens elements, which are crucial for maintaining optical performance. The compact design can be easily stored in camera bags or pockets when not in use, making it a practical addition to any photographer’s toolkit.

Bayonet lens mount

A lens mount is an interface — mechanical and often also electrical — between a photographic camera body and a lens. It is confined to cameras where the body allows interchangeable lenses, most usually the single lens reflex type or any movie camera of 16 mm or higher gauge. Lens mounts are also used to connect optical components in instrumentation that may not involve a camera, such as the modular components used in optical laboratory prototyping which join via C-mount or T-mount elements.
