B+W filters not only cost a fraction of the lens, but they are also easier to clean. They can remain on the lens at all times, as they are completely color neutral, maintain the highest transparency, and are extremely low in reflection due to the B+W MRC or B+W MRC nano coating. The optical signal reaches the image sensor or film unaffected. With the extremely clear and highly transparent B+W protection filters, no extension factor needs to be taken into account.
