Product details
New to Blue Note Records is saxophonist Branford Marsalis, one of the most significant jazz artists of our time. In addition to his albums under his own name, he has played with jazz legends such as Miles Davis and Dizzy Gillespie, as well as contributing to important pop albums. His collaboration with Sting is particularly legendary. Marsalis' Blue Note debut 'Belonging' is not only, as one would expect from the artist, a masterful modern jazz album, but also a genuine surprise: together with his quartet, he has created a complete reinterpretation of Keith Jarrett's 1974 ECM album of the same name. 'Belonging' is Branford Marsalis' first new release since 2019 with his quartet featuring pianist Joey Calderazzo, bassist Eric Revis, and drummer Justin Faulkner. The four musicians demonstrate with 'Belonging' how engaging with a revered work and the freedom of jazz can create a new, equally impressive piece.
