The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of standalone, cinematic horror games with branching storylines, where the choices you make in the game determine the story you experience. House of Ashes is the third game in the series.

Iraq, 2003. As the conflict comes to an end, CIA field agent Rachel King joins an elite military unit to investigate a suspicion of an underground chemical weapons facility in the shadow of the Zagros Mountains. Upon reaching the coordinates, the unit is ambushed by a local patrol commanded by Sergeant Salim Othman. During the battle, an earthquake opens chasms in the ground, plunging both sides into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. In the darkness beneath the Arabian Desert, something evil is awakened. Wild and unstoppable, a nest of ancient and supernatural creatures has found a new target to hunt. Horrific discoveries and impossible decisions challenge the survivors as they try to navigate the underground and escape the terrible threat. Will they prioritize their own survival or set aside their fears and personal rivalries to fight together as a unit?
