Austrian Audio is a company founded by former AKG designers, with the ambitious goal of bringing high-end audio technology back to Austria, specifically to its capital, Vienna. The new Austrian Audio HI-X65 is a lightweight, open-back over-ear headphone designed to provide excellent performance, especially suited to the demands of mixing and mastering. The open design ensures a clear stereo image and an uncolored, punchy bass response. The soft, shape-conforming ear pads make even long sessions comfortable. The long-stroke 44mm driver has an extremely low total harmonic distortion (THD) even in the bass range, and the headphone's frequency response extends very low from 5 hertz to a far-reaching 28 kilohertz. Metal hinges and a metal headband ensure durability, and the cable is detachable and replaceable.
