ASUS Radeon RX 580 STRIX T8G GAMING
8 GBProduct details
The Asus Radeon RX 580 Strix T8G Gaming with a semi-passive Strix cooler achieves a base clock of 1,411 MHz, which can be boosted up to 1,431 MHz. The 8 GB GDDR5 video memory operates at 4,000 MHz (effectively 8,000 MHz) and is connected to the GPU via a 256-bit memory interface. An 8-pin power connector supplies power to the 29.8 cm long graphics card, and a power supply with a capacity of 500 watts is recommended for operation.
In Asus's DirectCU III cooler design, the copper heat pipes are in direct contact with the graphics chip. The heat dissipated to aluminum fins is circulated by three fans. If the graphics chip is not fully utilized and requires less cooling, the fans are reduced in speed or completely turned off. This allows for the quietest possible operation of the graphics card, and up to two PWM case fans can be connected to the graphics card via two 4-pin fan connectors. This enables the PWM case fans' speed to be adjusted according to the temperature of the pixel accelerator.
Since the graphics chip typically generates more heat than the CPU while gaming, this solution ensures better ventilation of the case.
The Polaris graphics chips of the Radeon RX 500 series are manufactured using the optimized 14-nm FinFET LPP process, which has further enhanced performance compared to the RX 400 series. The number of shader units in the Radeon RX 580 remains unchanged at 2,304 compared to the Radeon RX 480. Nevertheless, the Radeon RX 580 offers nearly 10 percent more computing power than its direct predecessor. This performance increase is due to the higher boost clock rates made possible by process optimization.
