Ferroelectric RAM (FRAM) is very similar to dynamic RAM, but features a ferroelectric layer instead of a dielectric one. The SPI-FRAM breakout board is excellent for low-power applications or applications with unstable power supply, as well as for logging or buffering data. This FRAM chip has 8 kBytes of memory and an SPI interface with a clock frequency of up to 20 MHz. Like SRAM, each byte can be read and written immediately 10 trillion times, and the memory lasts for 95 years at room temperature. This chip can operate with a supply and logic voltage of 3 V or 5 V. The memory is designed to be breadboard-friendly with a 2.54 mm pitch for soldering a pin header.
