VB6/VB7 - Compact Reversing Contactors. The mechanical interlock between the two contactors prevents one contactor from being switched on while the other is still energized and vice versa. If reversing contactors are switched too quickly, there is a risk of a phase short circuit. This occurs when the arc of the de-energizing contactor has not yet extinguished while the contacts of the energizing contactor are already closed. To avoid this risk, both contactor coils must be de-energized for at least 50 ms during the switching process and additionally electrically interlocked against each other.
