The cold shrink insulation tubes 8420 and 8430 are EPDM tubes that feature a unique cold shrink connection system. The products are delivered pre-stretched on a removable support spiral, allowing for efficient and easy installation. When the support spiral is pulled out after positioning the tube, the tube shrinks and forms a watertight seal. The active deformation of the specially formulated material ensures a permanent seal and insulation against environmental factors. Cold shrink insulation tubes of series 8420 and 8430 are particularly useful for electrical insulation in all solid dielectric (rubber or plastic) insulated wire and cable splices up to 1,000 V. They are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. They often provide good physical protection and shielding against environmental influences for communication lines and other non-electrical applications (including cable sheath repairs). The temperature range of use is from -40 °C to 90 °C. In applications where the product is continuously exposed to UV radiation, it should be wrapped, for example, with Super 33+ vinyl electrical tape or self-vulcanizing silicone rubber tape 70.
