Hello together Can anyone recommend an external hard drive for an SME of 5 employees so that everyone can access the hard drive via the network without having to connect the hard drive directly to the computer? Many thanks for your help

In this category there is the filter 'File format', but this is completely unnecessary, because you can format a hard disc with the appropriate program in any file system (if you know how...)

Is there an external hard drive that can be connected to the PC all the time but has an on/off switch? I have a Seagate Expansion Desktop and it just runs all the time, is quite noisy even when I don't access any files from it and makes my whole explorer very slow. I would like to have another solution, as I already need a new one.

I've recently been thinking about how I want to secure all my data products. It's not much so far, but there's probably more and more to come. Can you help me? The hard drive should be quiet, not send data to third parties, be reliable and durable (I would like to use it as storage for the next 15-20 years) and have a password protection function. Do you have any suggestions?

I am looking for a compact hard drive that can automatically copy SD cards for travelling. Does anyone know of such a device?

I am passionate about making YouTube videos and the finished projects now take up a 5T external hard drive, which is now full. For editing, I have another 5T hard drive separately. Since this becomes quite expensive over time to buy the same 5T hard drive over and over again, I am now looking for another solution 10T or more. It should also not be too slow, so that moving the videos does not take too long. Has anyone already had experience with a good hard drive or can recommend something?

Recently, the hard disks on the product page have a price per TB (e.g. 24.40CHF/1TB). It would be great if you could filter/sort the hard drives and generally all storage media by price per TB storage capacity.

Hello all I'm a bit surprised how few USB 3.1C / Thunderbolt HDs there are, even though the transfer is much faster than USB 3.0. Is there any doubt that this standard will hold up in the long run (not that I'll buy Thunderbolt as a backup, and in case of the worst case scenario I'll have to desperately search for a compatible device in a few years :).

My hard drives are suddenly empty. I have a Seagate 2 bay NAS with 2 TB storage that runs with Raid 1. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough not to make a backup of the NAS. There are mainly photos and music on it. I have hired a company to check if the data is still there, unfortunately negative. So what else can I do. Thanks

Dear Community, I want to buy a new external disc. It will be used exclusively for backing up data. I have two residences and often travel back and forth. Would you go for an SSD (because no moving parts) or an HDD (because more robust). Thanks for your thoughts!

Hello Digitec and Digitec fans, I am looking for a simple backup solution. Is an external hard drive with software on it a solution? What works? After unsuccessfully unlocking Acronis for Adata SSD.... I am looking for something that works. Greetings, Martin

Which external storage medium is recommended for the Ipad Pro? Photos and study material are to be stored on it. Is the LaCie rugged suitable? Does this work at all? I've only been a Windoof user up to now😁.

Hello to each other I need an external hard drive for my PS4. Which one can you recommend to me here, which costs in the price range of maximum to approx. 80/90 CHF? It wouldn't have to have much more than 1 or 2 TB of storage space, that would be enough for me. P.S. A new internal hard drive is out of the question. Thank you for your answers!

On my Mac, my newer external HDDs keep running endlessly, even when they are not in use or even ejected. This is probably due to the controller in the external enclosure. Ancient USB 2 enclosures manage this without problems. Does anyone have any experience? I have my eye on the 2.5" USB-C HDDs from LaCie.

I am evaluating 3 external USB hard disks that can be stacked well and stably. Does anyone have experience, for example, with this drive (item no. 5982716): https://www.digitec.ch/de/s1/product/seagate-backup-plus-portable-5tb-externe-festplatte-5982716?tagIds=76-535 Or does anyone have another, better suggestion? Many thanks

Is it possible to use an external hard drive for a PC (Windows) and at the same time for a Smart TV without formatting it? In other words, you can move your own videos and pictures from the PC to the external hard drive, but watch the files on a Smart TV. I know that a VGA cable would be more practical. But I still wonder if this is possible. Thanks

Hello I will be attending the Kanti tomorrow and my notebook only has 256GB of memory. That's why I want to get an extra hard drive. An SSD is too expensive, because it should already be 1TB (or even more). I therefore want to buy an external HDD that I can carry with me every day. It should be small and robust. I hope you can recommend some good products. Thanks already, Louis

I find the filter function for external hard disks not really useful: the steps up to 3.9 TB still seem OK, but after that the filter step is too large: 4-9.9 TB. Often you're looking for about 4TB, or 8TB, or something in between (or over 8TB). But having all disks from 4TB up to and over 8TB in one filter makes the whole thing very confusing. With the internal hard disks it's the same problem, I just saw. I suggest the classification 4-5.9 6-7.9 and 8-9.9 TB. Would that be feasible?
