The question here is whether it can be mounted on the wall - the soundbar seems to be in the stand? Anyone have experience with this?

Yes, this is possible. The TV supports the VESA 300 x 200 wall mount standard. LG recommends the following product, for example: LG OTW420 Wall Mount
