Any number of units can be operated on the same channel (unit has 8 channels and 121 codes). As long as the same channel/code is selected on all units, they can communicate with each other (as long as they are within range).
Devices from other manufacturers (must be PMR446 devices) can also communicate with these devices if the same settings (channel/code) are used (PMR466 is a uniform radio standard).
