A good basic lens
I had been using the former version of the lens for about two decades. The added feature in the new version is the stabiliser, which may be useful to some (though 55mm shooting does not necessitate this feature for most). Canon's 18-55 is a good basic lens.
P.S. No financial conflict of interest; just fond of Canon products because they last.
