Good zoom lens for Sony FE

I bought the lens to complement the Tamron 17-28mm, which is a good lens. I was a bit sceptical, zooms are always a compromise. But in this case I think it's quite a good compromise. Used on an A7II, the image sharpness when slightly stopped down - at least according to my impression - is very good across all focal lengths, even at the edges, and the lens harmonises with the camera without any problems. The combination is also balanced in terms of weight. The only criticism - but that's complaining on a high level - is the sometimes somewhat slow autofocus or a slight pumping when the subject is not quite as contrasty, and the missing AF/MF button. Nevertheless, a recommendable zoom lens that covers a sufficient focal length range.

    Pro

    • Good focal length and aperture range
    • Good image sharpness
    • Not too heavy

    Contra

    • Sometimes slow AF
    • No AF/MF button on the lens

    Good all-rounder for little money

I bought this lens shortly before my holiday in Lisbon. In the end, I decided in favour of it because it covers a wide range of focal lengths and therefore complements my 85 mm F/1.4 from Samyang well. I was particularly surprised by the build quality and the high-quality glass at this price.
Of course, I realise that you can't expect a continuous aperture at this price. Nevertheless, I would advise against packing this lens for evening shots. During the day, however, I can recommend it to anyone.

Take a look at my sample photos to see for yourself.

    Pro

    • Zoom range
    • Processing
    • Zoom lock at 28mm

    Contra

    • No continuous aperture
    • No MF/AF switch

Compact and good quality for a 28-200 zoom lens

Zoom with a great amplitude, really great for hiking and travelling, 67mm filter compatible with my 20mm f/2.8 from Tamron, cool no need to buy a polarizer.
(Just a shame it doesn't start at 24mm).
After a week and two hikes,
I'm really happy with my purchase and feel that this lens will follow me everywhere.

    Pro

    • Opening 2.8
    • Focusing distance
    • Compact
    • 67mm ring

    Contra

    • No AF/MF button
    • Only 28mm

    Very good all-round lens

I haven't done much with it yet, but I think it's good so far. The advantage is the very large zoom range for a full-frame lens. Ideal for holidays.

    Pro

    • Large zoom range > 7x
    • Size and weight surprisingly good

    Contra

    • Few control buttons or keys

    Convincing price-performance ratio

I'm very happy with the lens. The zoom is amazing and generally just cheaper than having the name "Sony" on it ;)

All-round lens that leaves hardly anything to be desired.

Bought this lens to go with my a7c and am fully satisfied with the quality. It expands the existing 28-60, which I now only take with me when I want to be compact on the road.
The images are sharp and contrasty, amazing for
a zoom with this focal length range!
The lens itself is well made and feels quality, the zoom ring runs just right and the AF is accurate.
For the price, it's a lens you don't have to think twice about :-)
Pictures from the first outing with the lens.

    Pro

    • Good usable open aperture
    • Super zoom range
    • Good image quality
    • 10 years CH warranty (after registration)
    • Reasonable price
