Excellent price-conscious 4K IPS display.
If anybody is wondering, I contacted Samsung Electronics Switzerland about the differences between the U28R550 and the U28R554, and they said that this monitor is technically the same as the U28R550, but the U28R554 should only be sold in Germany. However, digitec seems to sell it even in Switzerland.

Good and cheap
The Samsung LU28R550UQRXEN, also available at Digitec, appears to be technically identical. R and P are different product lines in Samsung's marketing. You can buy the cheaper of the two.

- 41 watts of power consumption in operation is already hefty for the size. The many pixels are hungry.
Great picture, good price-performance ratio
According to the specs, the contrast ratio is "only" 1000:1 - but you won't notice that at all.
Excellent for graphics applications, less suitable for gaming.
Too bad it's neither tiltable nor height-adjustable (important for ergonomics).
Ecology: it's a pity that it's not lead-free - other manufacturers can do that (at least no mercury) and 0.3W in standby is a very good value.Pro

the stand only allows the screen to be moved vertically, the vertical viewing angle is the most important for visual comfort, but the stand suffers from being static in all other possible movements (horizontal pivoting, and especially vertical shifting)Pro
