LG 34wk95u-W

Due to the enormous price, I have decided for 4 stars, but it must be said that the image quality is probably hard to beat. Basically, it is currently in the market probably unrivaled and therefore the price is also justified. Nevertheless, I wish I could get the monitor a little cheaper.

I'm torn and can (unfortunately) only give it 3 stars. I bought this screen in the fall of 2020 as a more contemporary replacement for a >10 year old Asus VH242H (which I never had any problems with and is still running). The picture quality of the LG 34WK95U-W is really great, for image editing/photography with occasional (casual) gaming the screen is a dream.
The rude awakening came when I programmed several hours at a time. Thereby, the arrangement of the windows on my screen has nicely "burned in" and was subsequently on a gray background even after several hours still crystal clear to see (including text of the menus). Unfortunately, any web pages, program windows etc. lead to such a ghost image after less than 30 min, especially if they are grey/black... I have never experienced something like this with an LCD monitor (and I have worked at various workplaces with umpteen different monitors). There are similar reports on the net about image retention with the LG 34WK95U-W, so this doesn't seem to be an isolated case. So unfortunately, I can't recommend this monitor with a clear conscience.

At first I was sceptical about the 21:9 format. Until now I only knew 16:9. But my wife convinced me and I chose this monitor over the LG 32UD99-W (32", 3840 x 2160 pixels). And I don't regret it at all. I use the monitor for business and can place two or three windows next to each other and thus optimise my work. In the evening I watch films and the format fits perfectly again without black bars. I read about bleeding and inhomogeneities of illumination. I find the picture perfect. Films in HDR mode (especially cartoons) are absolutely brilliant. The writing in the office programmes is also extremely sharp. And the fact that my monitor has no pixel errors makes me happy. If this had been the case, I would have tried an exchange or return.
So, the picture is excellent (Office and Movies), even when gaming I have nothing to complain about with my Wolfenstein and Battlefield 4. I don't play in the highest resolution anyway. And both games know 21:9 formats and thus fill the whole surface. The speakers are also fine. Clear sound and a bit of bass.
I practised a bit with the connection, because both my notebooks XPS 9550 and Elitebook G5 have Thunderbolt/USB C. With the supplied 5K DP-DP cable and an adapter USB C - DP, both did not run in the highest resolution with 60Hz, but only with 30Hz. Only with the supplied Thunderbolt cable did I get the full resolution @60Hz to run. With the gaming computer, however, the DP cable ran perfectly. So everything was perfect. And I'm glad that my 4K notebooks can do 5K@60Hz. I thought at first that it would be too much.
So my expectations are fully met with this monitor. If there had been a 38" version of this monitor, I would have taken it, even for 2000.-. :-)
If I had to criticise something, it would be the slow menu navigation with the cumbersome joystick.

Excellent monitor for creative users such as graphic artists, designers, CAD, architects or even for gaming.
A rarely found and very high resolution, refresh rate and color reproduction.
Leading the way for monitors of the future.
The picture quality is simply excellent!
For people who explicitly DON'T need a curved monitor, but still need a widescreen monitor of the highest quality, this is the best choice.
Of course, it is recommended to connect the monitor via USB-C!
Criticisms because of partially poor build quality I can not confirm.
My copy is impeccably manufactured.
About the freedom of movement and stability of the included stand could be discussed at best and I understand this stand actually only as an "emergency solution".
Thanks to the 'VESA' compatibility (100 x 100mm), however, this is not an issue for every user.
The monitor virtually invites you to mount it on an individual attachment like a swivel arm!
Another detail is that the power supply is built directly into the monitor.
So there is no external power supply available or necessary and therefore the annoying 'hiding' of the power supply is not necessary.
But of course the monitor weighs a little more and is also connected directly to the mains (230V, via device plug).
In short, a clear buy recommendation for users with somewhat higher needs.
Price probably a bit in the higher segment, but you get an ultimate monitor which is absolutely convincing and leaves nothing to be desired!
I would buy again!
As of August 4, 2021, price 839 CHF (bought in action/ reconditioned, as good as new device! Packaging damaged)

I was also initially skeptical about the format 21:9. So far I knew only 16:9. I could convince me but online compared to the LG 32UL950-W.AEU (32", 3840 x 2160 pixels) to switch to this 5k2k monitor. I have nothing to regret until now. I use the monitor business & private. 1-3 windows side by side place goes without problems. At the end of the day you can watch movies or series without black bars perfectly. I find the picture flawless.
Also, the speakers go in order it goes but even better. External speakers I recommend aufjedenfall, if audio is an important point for you.
I connected the LG monitor via the supplied Thunderbolt 3 cable to my Macbook Pro 2019 (16 inch).
There is criticism in the joystick that is responsible for the menu navigation of the monitor.
When the Macbook is connected and the sleep mode starts it sometimes goes extremely long until the monitor is recognized again, however, if the screen is locked manually (user locks screen via mouse click etc) the problem does not occur.

Screen in itself very good, super sharp image, perfect for macOS (because pixels are converted 1:4 and not 1:3333 as in 4K).
However, immediately after the first turn on I noticed a large (several?) dead pixel (glows green all the time).
Of course Digitec does not send a replacement. I have to ship via the manufacturer - so screen to LG.
I hope this will be replaced and it will not take weeks....
Therefore currently only 2 stars.
Without dead pixel I would give 5 stars.
But am very disappointed in Digitec - new screen, visible defect, problem reported on the same day - still no accommodation.
UPDATE 12.08.2021: Digitec has come to meet me and has sent me a new screen. The new one has no dead pixels. Rating update to 5 stars.
