Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 Aorus Xtreme 10G

This is one of the best RTX 3080 models but that does not justify paying 250CHF more for a higher OC and some LCD screen. The price is way too expensive and a waste of money. You would be better of getting the RTX 3080 TUF 010G or the Strix OC model. These are both better value.
Price at the time of review: 996.-

From my point of view, this is the Ferrari among the 3080 models and can really be seen everywhere. I installed my card vertically with a riser cable. Unfortunately, I've been having problems ever since, as this card is not designed for PCI 3.0. I have ordered a PCI 4.0 cable from an external manufacturer, so let's see if this Ferrari purrs again.
I would love to dismantle the card and present it to everyone.

The temperatures of the card are super. In order to achieve these temperatures, it is of course important to have a good ventilation concept in the PC.
Everything about the card (clock, ventilation, lighting, etc.) can be configured via the software, which is good in my opinion.
The card is difficult to detect with the fans spinning and is therefore practically inaudible (although I own a Lian-Li O11-D, which is not insulated).
The display is, of course, just a gimmick and can be switched off if necessary.
The lighting could be a little brighter.

First of all, I didn't get the card from digitec but from a colleague. Here at digitec, I'm still waiting for my ASUS STRIX RTX 3080.
Now to the Aorus Xtreme. Compared to my old GTX1070, the RTX3080 is a real monster. The card looks really fat and has a large cooler in contrast to other RTX 3080 cards. Nevertheless, you should make sure that the card gets enough fresh air. In my old case (Sharkoon TG5) there was no fresh air from below and the card got over 80°C hot under load and heated up the whole case. With my new case (Lian-Li O11Dynamic XL), fresh air is blown directly into the graphics card from below. So I only get 65°C under load, which is enormously better.
According to the hardware monitor and in-game monitoring, the card boosted to a full 2085Mhz in CoD Cold War, for example. At the same time, I have 80-100 FPS at full detail level with a resolution of 3440x1440. If you look at other titles like the current Cyberpunk 2077, I only have around 40-80 FPS even at full detail level and 3440x1440. Other games like Apex Legends have 100+ FPS throughout.
OC-wise, the card also has a lot to offer. At least for me, all games (Warzone, ColdWar, Apex Legends, Cyberpunk 2077) run stably at a boost clock of 2100Mhz. According to measurements, the power consumption is 303 watts. With good ventilation, the card warms up to a maximum of 66°C.
Now to the worse part of the Aorus Xtreme. I am disappointed by the lighting. In contrast to the ASUS STRIX I actually ordered, you can see practically nothing of the LED lighting here. It is much too weak and discreet. The accompanying app RGB-Fusion 2.0 for controlling the lighting also has problems and no longer works for me. So I can't use the LCD screen either.

As with all 3080, make sure your CPU is recent enough to avoid any bottleneck. It would be sad to pay big buck for this GPU and not be able to exploit 100% of its potential.

After 3 days of waiting, the delivery estimate switched to "No information available". A dissapointing waste of time given that Digitec only allows one order per model per customer.
