BTW, do not update the maps. Otherwise the maps will become too large for the memory. Then you have to limit yourself to regions. This means that if you're Swiss, you can no longer go to France, but you can go as far as Bulgaria. But to get the maps back for the next region, you need a PC and a fast internet connection. Because maps can only be synchronised via USB. I'm telling you, this thing is a piece of shit.
Don't tell me about the Komoot integration. That stinks too. The first tour I wanted to put on it was already too much for the thing. The next tour, which I then wanted to upload via Garmin Connect (the web app, because you can't upload GPX with the app), the thing hung up and Garmin Express opened as a white window.
The last time I bought such a lousy product was from a Chinese supplier. At least I wasn't disappointed then.
I could write pages and pages here, but my energy is too precious for that. Fortunately, people are fighting over these things.
The only reason I bought it in the first place was the long battery life and because you can load OpenStreetMap maps. But what's the point if the whole ecosystem is sub-par?

I wanted to replace my ten-year-old Garmin Edge Explorer; I returned the Edge 540 after the first use. It is still very complicated to use. Even if you are used to Garmin devices. The route guidance drove me to despair. Yes, the Edge usually takes cyclists along cycle paths. In my test, the Garmin sometimes only took me to my destination via detours. In contrast, the iPhone, which I had with me for comparison, showed me a more direct route (also on a cycle path). It's nice that the Garmin shows how long the ascent will take when travelling over a mountain pass. Unfortunately, this only works unreliably. On several long climbs, the system showed nothing. What a pity. I'm surprised that Garmin is so popular.

I paired it with my FAZUA e-bike and everything worked.
