You asked, Honor answers

At the launch of the Honor 9 in Berlin, we sat down with the President of Honor Europe and asked her a few questions. The questions come from you, the users. The answers come from Eva Wimmers, who talks about smartwatches, artificial intelligence and dragon babies.
The Honor 9 is here. Cameraman Manuel Wenk and I were at the launch in Berlin and seized the opportunity to talk to Eva Wimmers, President of Honor Europe. However, Eva didn't have to answer my questions, but those of the Community.
For all those who don't want to or can't watch a video: The answers are written down here.
Kürsat Koç: Why is there no optical image stabilisation built into the Honor 9? You'd expect that at this price, right?
Eva Wimmers: Dear Kürsat, there's always more we could build into a smartphone. But we think the Honor 9 is pretty cool as it is, even if it doesn't have an optical image stabiliser.
Urs Kuhn: Why doesn't Honor make slots where I can insert two SIM cards and a memory card anymore?
Eva Wimmers: We had that once in the one marvellous phone. But we listened to our Community and they said: "Storage space is very important". That's why we focussed on it. Storage space is no longer only available locally but also in the cloud. That's why we use the slots for communication.
Michael Brechbühl: Do all Honor 9s around the world use the same components or are there differences between the USA, Asia and Europe?
Eva Wimmers: ...and I think Michael said "Please be open". Okay, so I am open. The Honor 9 is always the same. And if it's built somewhere else, I don't know about it. I'm not the president of the US market.
Mary Lutz: Will Honor introduce a new smartwatch?
Eva Wimmers: First of all. Mary, I'm so glad that a lady is speaking here for once. At last! Otherwise it's always just me and all these blokes. So hello, Mary! Today we've introduced Volume 3. Is that what you mean? Because it's 50 metres waterproof and you can watch your heart rate while diving with the sharks.
Thomas Krebs: What is Honour's update strategy?
Eva Wimmers: We will offer monthly security updates for some devices in the future. This is not yet a reality, but we are working hard on it. As far as major system updates are concerned, we are dependent on our big friend out there (Google, author's note). But we are also working on being able to roll out updates more quickly. Because, as with the features, faster is better.
William Eichele: Have you tested this beautiful AI, which is supposed to improve the battery after 10,000 hours of use, for yourself?
Tom Barylov: My Honor 8 has been making strange noises instead of vibrating since today. Help?
Eva Wimmers: I know, Tom. But look, it's like when you go to the doctor and say "Doctor, my arm hurts" and he's supposed to give you a diagnosis without having seen anything. Show me your mobile and I'll tell you what's wrong with it.
Markus Buchmeier: Is the Honor 9 finally waterproof?
Eva Wimmers: Nope .
Zeno Kaufmann: What exactly is the situation now with Honor and Huawei?
Eva Wimmers: That's a really good question. We are sister brands. Huawei is for everyone and anyone. But Honor is for the young and the young at heart, the digital natives and digital immigrants. And we have built the phone to be one of the fastest and best phones. We build it differently to devices that are intended for people who never listen to music or are never online. That makes us special.
We also have our own design teams in China. We got the technology from Huawei, but the design is ours.
Maxrim: When will you finally use AMOLED instead of IPS displays?
Eva Wimmers: Not today.
Alex Paul: Why didn't my Honor 8 Pro take any pictures when I was swimming in lava and spotted a baby dragon?
Eva Wimmers: Oh my god! This question kept my whole team busy yesterday! We looked for dragons but didn't find any. We can't understand your question in the slightest either. What did you try? Maybe the one with the knuckle on the display and then you get a screenshot of the game? No idea? But try the knuckle thing.
