The latest and greatest online shop in Germany is making heads turn. Not long ago, a video team of German TV network Pro7 visited Zurich to find out who and what is behind galaxus.de.
Last year’s launch of Galaxus in Germany attracted a lot of attention. There have been regular reports about Galaxus Deutschland since. In February 2019, Pro7 approached us with the idea of featuring us in their TV programme Galileo. Of course, we were up for it.

On a cold and rainy day in March, the time had come: a five-person Galileo team knocked on our door in Zurich. Galileo presenter Matthias Fiedler and Digitec Galaxus CEO Florian Teuteberg went for a run together. 30 minutes waiting time at 3°C in the rain and about 30 takes couldn’t ruin our CEO’s good mood. Back in the warmth, Matthias and Florian met for an interview in the middle of the office. The interview had to be paused several times, because the employees didn’t let the video shoot get in the way of their coffee break and the rattling coffee machine didn’t make for ideal background noise.
Shortly before lunch, I was asked to step in front of the camera and give a quick statement as head of the editorial team – to my surprise. Cameraman David pushed and pulled me around so much that, for a split second, I thought this might be an April Fools' show and they're trying to find out how long I’d put up with it. After this, the film crew headed to the basement, where my editorial colleagues Simon and Dominik were captured reviewing a product in our studio. Dominik took a close look at a smartphone; Simon tested a pasta maker.
Matthias: «Alright Dominik, I’m going to ask you if any reviews are planned for today. And you’ll refer me to Simon.»
Matthias: «Dominik, are you testing any products today?»
Dominik: «Yes, I’m reviewing the iPad Pro and the Galaxy S10!»
Matthias: «Uh...no! You're supposed to refer to Simon... Dominik, are you testing any products today?»
Dominik: «Yes, I’m reviewing the iPad Pro and the Galaxy S10!»
The entire team in chorus «Noooo!!!»
Matthias: «You’ll refer to Simon, won’t you? Let’s try again: Dominik, are you testing any products today?»
Dominik: «Yes, I’m reviewing the iPad Pro and the Galaxy S10! And Simon's testing a pasta maker.»
You won’t get to see these mishaps and outtakes – I hope. We had a lot of fun during the video shoot and can’t wait to see the final programme. By the way, Matthias Fiedler really is as nice as he looks and willingly recorded video messages for Galileo fans.
