I am Mother

A nameless teenage girl (Clara Rugaard) is the first in a generation of humans to be raised by a robot «Mother» (Rose Byrne) in a fallout bunker. Suddenly, she meets a stranger (Hilary Swank) who isn’t supposed to be alive. After all: humans have all long-since died out in this dystopian future.

Start date: 7/6/2019, Netflix

It Chapter Two

There’s a clown in Derry, Maine that doesn’t make kids laugh, but eats them instead. Every 27 years. Almost three decades after the events of the first movie, the second instalment in the «It» series reunites us with the members of the «Losers Club» – all grown up by now. Their goal: to defeat this personified evil from the sewers once and for all.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: 5/9/2019

Judy

Judy Garland (Renée Zellweger) was one of the brightest stars to ever shine in Hollywood. She became famous in the 1939 musical hit «The Wizard of Oz», where a 16-year old Judy sang the original version of «Somewhere Over the Rainbow». But Hollywood is ruthless, and Garland’s story would end in tragedy.

Release date in Swiss cinemas: Autumn of 2019

Watchmen

Tick tock. HBO’s adaptation of the «Watchmen» comic is coming. The series is set about 30 years after the dark conclusion of Zack Snyder’s movie version – in the present. Just like Alan Moore’s original comic, this series has been influenced by real political events and figures. However, it shows a slightly altered reality, one in which mighty superheroes are involved – and not always in a good way.

Start: Autumn of 2019, HBO

I write about technology as if it were cinema, and about films as if they were real life. Between bits and blockbusters, I’m after stories that move people, not just generate clicks. And yes – sometimes I listen to film scores louder than I probably should.
