Spider-Man 2 is proof that Insomniac is by far the best Playstation studio
by Domagoj Belancic
This week, Spider-Man caused a stir with the latest instalment in its video game series and an appearance in Magic: The Gathering. The editorial team also tested a mid-range smartphone and a programmable mini-computer. It was also the anniversary of Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover.
Spider-Man 2 is the fastest-selling title from a Sony studio. Our colleague Domi, however, already knew before this announcement that Insomniac is currently the best PlayStation studio.
However, the friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man isn’t only a guarantee for success in games. Marvel has been attracting the masses for years, be it to the movies or to the comic store. That’s what Hasbro must have thought, too, now bringing out cards for Magic: The Gathering in collaboration with Marvel. A development that doesn’t suit Simon, a Magic nerd, at all.
Something doesn’t sit well with his colleague David either. Namely the movie Highlander II. At least he can reconcile with the Immortals franchise through the original Highlander.
Florian, on the other hand, had a better experience with a classic movie. The Omen from 1976 still makes him shudder today – without any special effects. I always shudder at the casting choices in old films: Gregory Peck seems more like a grandfather to me than the father of the demon boy Damien.
Florian also gets a chill down his spine when using the context menu in Windows 11. It’s why this week’s Windows tip explains how to bring back the classic menu.
I’m also on the explain train this week, guiding you through the naming conventions of mainboard manufacturers.
Moving to electronic, David took a stab at the Oxocard Connect. It’s a programmable minicomputer with great potential.
Lorenz sees only limited potential in the Honor 90. While the smartphone looks stylish and takes good photos, the battery and processor are below average.
Was the first year of X – formerly Twitter – under Elon Musk below average? Or did it exceed expectations? Opinions are divided. Debora has summarised the most important events so you can see for yourself.
