The Fujifilm X100V brings significant improvements

Fujifilm has presented the fifth version of the X100. The most important changes compared to the previous model are a new lens, a movable LCD and an improved video function.
Nine years ago, the Fujifilm X100 came onto the market and heralded a new era for the Japanese manufacturer: The X series stands for high-quality cameras with more or less retro design and retro operation; in the case of the X100, more rather than less.
The X100 occupies a special position because it has a built-in lens. However, you can't call it a compact camera - it's quite a piece of furniture, but also has a large sensor in APS-C format.

New lens, movable touchscreen
The lens in the X100V also has an aperture of f/2 and a focal length of 23 mm. This corresponds to the image section of 35 mm in 35 mm format. However, the lens is a new development and is said to have a higher resolution and less distortion than the previous X100 lens.
Probably the most striking innovation: the LCD is now movable. It sinks nicely into the back of the body. Fujifilm has thus made a significant improvement without destroying the beautiful retro design. Really cool work. It's a 3-inch touchscreen with 1.62 million pixels.

Of course, the hybrid viewfinder is still part of it. Hybrid means: it is an electronic and an optical viewfinder in one. The viewfinder has been further developed for the X100V. An electronic rangefinder is also integrated. A small window is displayed at the bottom right of the optical viewfinder, which provides the user with additional support when shooting.

Video function and weather protection
The video function has never been a strong point of the X100. That is now changing: Not only can the X100V handle 4K at 30 fps as well as Full HD at 60 and 120 fps, it also offers the option of recording with 10-bit and 4:2:2 colour sampling via HDMI to an external recorder. In addition, the various popular film simulations are also available for videos.
The Fujifilm X100V is also the first X100 to be protected against dust and splash water. However, this requires the AR-X100 adapter ring and the PRF-49 protective filter.
The Fujifilm X100V is now available to order in the colours Silver and Black. The silver X100V should be available from the end of February 2020, the black version from March 2020.
