Switzerland has an astronaut again

Marco Sieber will be trained as an astronaut by the European Space Agency ESA. He and 16 others prevailed against 22,500 people.
Maybe one day the Bernese will fly to the International Space Station ISS. That is the goal of the training, which begins in spring 2023 and lasts twelve months.
Sieber completed his Matura in Burgdorf in 2007. In the army, he was trained as a paratrooper. He completed his medical studies at the University of Bern in 2015. He is currently a resident in urology at the Spitalzentrum Biel.
With his appointment as an astronaut, Marco Sieber follows in the footsteps of Claude Nicollier. The only Swiss to have been in space so far. That was more than 20 years ago.
