Suunto 3 Fitness: New, unbreakable and weighing only 36 grams

created on 2.5.2018

With the Suunto 3 Fitness, Suunto is launching a new smartwatch. The new watch boasts that it is even more break-resistant and comes in a large, lightweight case.

The Suunto 3 Fitness is a sports watch. This means that it is deliberately designed to make you more successful in sport. You still have to run, swim or cycle yourself, but the 3 Fitness provides you with data after training and the obligatory shower, which you can use to optimise your training. Or it simply gives you an overview of how much you move in your everyday life. It can also be quite exciting and inspire you to perhaps walk to the last tram stop to get your step count.

In addition, the 3 Fitness takes over the notification functions of your smartphone in its 43 millimetre thick and 36 gram housing. WhatsApp message? Your wrist vibrates and you can see who has written to you. You can even reply, but it's a bit tedious with the typing interface and impractical with voice recognition in Swiss German.

A look at the clock

The Suunto 3 Fitness brings you many features that you are familiar with from other smartwatches:

  • Distance sensor
  • Heart rate monitor
  • Activity detection
  • Calorie consumption
  • Pedometer
  • Sleep monitoring
  • Running functions
  • Cycling functions
  • Swim functions
  • VO₂max

The latter value is one of the newer values being discussed in the fitness scene. The term VO₂max is made up of V for volume and O₂ for oxygen. Put simply, the value determines your overall fitness level based on the oxygen saturation of your circulation during training.

The one with the mineral glass

Suunto is launching the 3 Fitness in two versions that are largely identical. The big difference is that the mineral glass version has mineral glass. Although the mineral glass version does not have a separate name, it is more shatterproof than the normal version. <p
