
Sony buys Bungie for 3.6 billion US dollars

The developer studio Bungie will belong to Sony Interactive Entertainment in the future. The purchase price amounts to $3.6 billion.
Sony is expanding its portfolio with Bungie. The Seattle-based developer studio is being sold to Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) for $3.6 billion. The acquisition has not yet been completed.
According to Sony, Bungie is to remain independent and cross-platform. The focus continues to be on sci-fi shooters.
Bungie is known as the developer of "Halo" and "Destiny". However, the "Halo" brand continues to belong to Microsoft.
Bungie's acquisition by Sony is the third major purchase in the game industry in the still young year of 2022. First take Two took over the browser game company Zynga for $12.7 billion. After that, Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard for 67.8 billion US dollars.
