Samsung Galaxy F62: a battery powerhouse in three colours made for the Indian market

Today, Monday, Samsung launched the sale of its latest F-series smartphone. The device is supposed to win over gen Z’ers in India with its performance, technical endurance and affordability.

Last week, the rumours about Samsung's new smartphone cumulated in the announcement of the F62, the latest addition to the Galaxy F series. As of today, the F62 is available for purchase from various Indian retailers.

With this launch, the South Korean tech giant is hoping to stir up the mid to low-range price segment in the South Asian region. And it may well succeed, as the digital tractor known as the F62 packs some fierce hardware.

The hardware

The F62’s claim to fame is its battery, just as in the predecessor model. The F41, which was launched last year, already had a 6,000 mAh battery. This year, Samsung has done one better: the F62 sports a 7,000 mAh battery. According to the manufacturer, the F62 has enough power to last a good two days. After that, it’ll probably have to be recharged at some point using the included 25 W charger. Recharging it might take a while.

The phone is 9.5 mm in width and weighs 218 g. It features a 6.7-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The F62 runs on One UI 3.1 (Android 11) and has a fingerprint reader on the side.

The processor – Samsung’s Exynos 9825 octa-core system-on-a-chip with Mali-G76 GPU – is also quite impressive. The F62 is available with either 6 GB or 8 GB RAM and 128 GB UFS 3.0 flash storage.

The quad-camera on the back of the F62 consists of a 64 MP Sony IMX682 sensor, a 12 MP wide-angle camera and 5 MP depth and macro sensor. There’s also a 32 MP front-facing camera for selfies.

The F62 is a 4G smartphone and comes in Laser Green, Laser Grey and Laser Blue.

Gen Z is the target audience

The Samsung Galaxy F series was developed with Flipkart, the Indian online store giant, and is aimed at Indian buyers. The first smartphone in the F series, the F41, celebrated its global debut in India last October.
