The camera has no problems with strong contrasts caused by the sun. It elegantly balances them out and does not distort the colours.
The ultra-wide-angle and telephoto cameras are on a par with the main camera in terms of quality. The colour reproduction is identically good and the level of detail is high. Small deficiencies in sharpness are only noticeable when viewed in original size.
In the dark, all three cameras deliver images that are very useful for social media or for showing on a smartphone. The residual light is amplified well without turning night into day. Many details are visible and the colours are not ruined by the lighting. The night mode is worthwhile. Above all, it ensures that light sources are not overexposed, but are easily recognisable.
The front camera also delivers very good image quality in daylight. In the dark, it is heavily dependent on the available light - even with night mode activated. If I have the light source behind me, the sharpness of my face decreases significantly.
Ricoh GR: cooperation with a camera manufacturer
Like other smartphone manufacturers, Realme has sought out a partner in the photography sector and has been successful with Japanese camera manufacturer Ricoh. The collaboration is reflected in the «Ricoh GR» logo on the GT 8 Pro and in the camera app.

Realme equips the GT 8 Pro with a generous 7000 mAh battery. This lasts 24:50 hours at half display brightness in the PCMark battery test. That's 20 minutes more than the OnePlus 15 and thus a new record. Depending on usage behaviour, the smartphone only needs to be charged every two days.
A power adapter is not included in the scope of delivery. With the right charger, the GT 8 Pro accepts up to 120 watts. The battery is then fully charged in around 45 minutes. This applies to the UFCS 2.0 standard (Universal Fast Charging Standard) introduced this year, which is also used by Honor, Huawei, Oppo and Vivo, among others. In the settings, I can also activate short summaries of notifications and an AI planner that recognises appointments or tasks after a double tap on the back of the smartphone. There are also translation functions and writing aids. The «AI Smart Loop» is a context menu that appears when I hold a file with my finger on the touchscreen. The AI then displays apps on the side of the screen with which I can use the file.
When taking photos, you can also hand over decisions to the AI. It then selects an image section for you that complies with common image composition rules - no matter how crooked you hold the camera.
