Nvidia RTX 3050: Better than the AMD competition
Today is the official release date of the RTX 3050, which also means that the first reviews of Nvidia's entry-level graphics card are out.
The German online magazine Computerbase writes that the RTX 3050 is a good all-rounder with all the amps and no real weakness. The performance of the card is 34% higher than that of the predecessor RTX 1650 Super. However, it does not reach the level of an RTX 2060. Most games can be played with maximum details in 1080p resolution. However, the slider has to be turned down a bit for AAA titles.
Wccftech points out that Nvidia goes the opposite way of AMD with the RX 6500 XT with the RTX 3050. AMD has cut features from the card to keep it cheap. Nvidia puts all features of the RTX 30 series on the 3050, but the recommended retail price (MSRP) is also 50 dollars higher than that of the RX 6500 XT. If the card is available at the MSRP, it is definitely the better choice than the RX 6500 XT. With all its features, it is the first good entry-level card with ray tracing.
Techpowerup has a similar opinion. The tech portal concludes that the RTX 3050 is considerably faster than the RX 6500 XT. However, the RTX 2060, as well as Vega 64 and RX 5600 XT are still 13 percent faster. Compared to the RTX 3060, the RTX 3050 is 36 percent slower. If the card were available for under $400, it would be a fantastic deal. Better than anything else currently available.
